I am trying to setup and install an Edge Transport Server for a test Exchange
2007 organization.

I'm failing the prerequisites with the following error.

Summary: 1 item(s). 0 succeeded, 1 failed.
Elapsed time: 00:00:17

Edge Transport Server Role Prerequisites Failed Error: The fully qualified
domain name of the computer is either missing or empty. Setup cannot continue.
Recommended Action:

Where do I need to setup the FQDN of this server? It's not a part of the
domain and I've tried messing with DNS records for it with no luck. The link
it gives does not work and I can't seem to find anything with Google or
technet on this problem.

Thanks in advance for any input on this you may have.

Thanks,

Ashley

There's been a problem getting to a lot of the 2007 data on the
TechNet site today. This is being worked on and shoul dbe resolved
shortly.

Here are teh steps from the link below which should resolve your
error:

The DNS suffix is not set on the local computer

Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007 setup cannot continue because the
Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the local computer is not set.

Exchange 2007 setup requires that the local computer have a valid
Domain Name System (DNS) suffix set.

To resolve this issue, set the DNS suffix for the local computer,
restart the computer, and rerun Exchange 2007 setup.

To set the primary DNS suffix of the local computer
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. The System
Properties dialog box will appear.

Click the Computer Name tab.

Click Change. The Computer Name Changes dialog box will appear.

Click More. The DNS Suffix and NetBIOS Computer Name dialog box will
appear.

Enter the appropriate DNS suffix for the domain.

Select the Change primary DNS suffix when domain membership changes
check box.

Click OK to save the changes, and then click OK to exit the Computer
Name Changes dialog box.

Click OK to close the System Properties dialog box, and then restart
the computer for the change to take effect.

Hope this helps.
