I'm trying to migrate my NT user accounts to Win2K AD with
ADMT, however I'm getting an error telling me that the
target domain is not in Native Mode. Why would I put it
in Native mode if I'm synchronizing an NT box with a 2K
machine?? HELP!!!

Hi John,

The following article does indeed state that the 200x domain should be in
native mode.

If you look in the SUMMARY under the Note: it states
that "Note This article assumes that the source domain is
running Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a, and that the
target domain is a Windows 2000-based domain in Native
mode."

Please advise

Hi John,

All of the articles I've found have the same basic statement in them so I
infer that this means the 200x domain "must" be in native mode.

Therefore do I change it to native mode BEFORE I
decommission the 5.5 box?? This article says that you
should change to native mode after the 5.5 machine has
been upgraded or decommissioned.

Hi John,

I think you are referring to two different things. Native mode in the ADMT
articles is referring to mode of the domain, mixed or native. Native mode
in the KB article you reference is referring to mode of the exchange
organization, mixed or native. An exchange org cannot be in native mode
until all 5.5 servers have been removed.
